The Best Spa in Nairobi – 7 top picks

Looking for a spa in Nairobi? Kenya’s capital city has a multitude of pampering palaces, the trick is finding the right ones. 

Kenyan ladies love to look their best and there is an abundance of spa’s to meet their needs. I have picked my top 7 Nairobi spas, the very cream of the crop, for that day of ultimate indulgence. 

The best spas in Nairobi are nearly all in top-end hotels. Many 5 star hotels open up spas within their brand or make space available to international award-winning spas. These spas are open to the public even if you aren’t staying or eating within the hotel. 

A word of warning, do check the spas are open before you visit them. All of the spas listed here are open as of 2021, but in my research many other spas in Nairobi are now closed, either permanently or for Covid. 

The best spa in Nairobi

Entim Sidai Spa

Location: Tree Lane, Karen

Entim Sidai means beautiful forest in the Maasai language, the name is appropriate, Entim Sidai sits in 20 acres of indigenous forest, on an old colonial farm. The farmhouse commands views of the Ngong Hills and forms the main part of this Nairobi spa.

A full range of treatments is available. Go for a mani/pedi in their outdoor nail studio. Or choose from eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage, facials and sauna. Specialist treatments include hydrotherapy and a “foot pebble nature pod”.

There is an onsite restaurant (reviews are a bit hit and miss) and you can stay overnight in the old house.

Serenity Spa

Location: Gigiri and Kitisuru

Mention a spa in Nairobi and Serenity Spa is one of the first to pop up. Serenity has two locations in Gigiri and Kitisuru. Both Nairobi spas are visually stunning, with opulent surroundings and lavish use of plants and natural materials. Serenity continues the nature theme by using products from botanically sourced ingredients that are free from parabens, chemicals and have not been tested on animals. The products are inspired by Japanese Geisha and are made using pearl extract, Arabian Rasul mud, rose, rice bran oils and grape leaf.

The owner prides herself on keeping the staff fully trained and abreast of the latest treatments and technologies.  

A full range of treatments are available: nails, eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage, facials and sauna. Specialist treatments include the Hamman sauna, micro-needling, slimming treatments and a hairdresser. 

I particularly love the Detox sessions. Although Serenity is a Day Spa you can book yourself on to 1, 3, 5 and 7-day detox specials where a programme of detox juices and specialised treatments will get you back on the straight and narrow.  

Keep an eye out for their spa safaris, where you can enjoy yoga, meditation, treatments in various safari camps throughout Kenya. 

Kaya Spa at Tribe Hotel – Gigiri 

Location: Tribe Hotel, Gigiri

Kaya Spa in Gigiri is located within the Tribe Hotel. The spa has been voted by Conde Nast Traveller (2011) as one of the hottest urban retreats in the world. It is certainly glamorous, having been designed to echo the mysticism of Kenya’s sacred Kaya Forests. 

The Nairobi spa is sleekly glamorous, decorated in browns and golds, a quiet haven away from the bustle of the Village Market. It has incorporated tranquillity zones where you can spend time relaxing outside of your spa treatment. 

The spa offers mani/pedi, eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage, facials, sauna and a spa. Specialist dermatological treatments, pre and postnatal special treatments, men’s spa sessions and an in house hairdressing salon.

Spa at Hemingway’s hotel

Location: Hemingways hotel, Karen

Hemingway’s hotel is probably my favourite hotel in Nairobi. A plantation-style building with views over the Ngong Hills, a huge fountain and wildlife filled gardens. The spa echoes the quiet elegance of the hotel design. Simply decorated with windows looking out over the pool and Hemingways manicured gardens. 

You can start your day with a visit to the gym, relax on loungers by the pool and end up with cocktails on the terrace or dine on Hemingways famed Jospur steak.

Hemingways Spa does nails, eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage and facials. Specialist treatments include kids and men’s treatments, use of the gym and pool. A variety of all-inclusive packages are available including a girls getaway, detox session and a couple’s ritual. 

Devarana Spa 

Location: Dusit D2 Hotel, Riverside

Devarana Spa is a luxury spa chain created in Bangkok. The Thai inspired spas are globally acclaimed and situated in 5-star hotels all over the world. 

Devarana translates to “garden in heaven” in Sanskrit. Heaven’s garden is a place filled with soft music, sublime scents and touches of silver and gold. Deverana Spa is decorated to mimic this nirvana and the spa in Nairobi is honestly the most beautiful in the city.  

Devarana Spa Nairobi includes nails, eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage, facials, sauna, spa. Specialist treatments include an oat and honey spa bath, scrubs, full spa packages and the signature Heavenly Nantha Garden Experience. The spa has a serenity healing garden for meditation and reflection. 

Villa Rosa Spa – Villa Rosa Kempinski 

Location: Chiromo Road

Another 5-star hotel in Nairobi with a swanky spa to call its own. The Villa Rosa Spa at Nairobi’s fabulous Kempinski hotel has 9 treatments rooms each with an immaculate design. 

The spa is inspired by European seasons. You can choose from treatments and packages such as Spring in your step detoxifying, Summer bliss balancing, Autumn sleep relaxing and Winter Warmer energizing. As well as the usual treatments such as nails, massage, waxing and facials.

Aromatics Spa 

Location: Lavington 

Aromatics Spa doesn’t have the 5-star pizazz that some of the other spa’s have as this spa isn’t located in a posh hotel. Instead, this spa made the top 7 due to its fabulous reviews. Aromatics Spa was voted 5th best spa in all Nairobi and has consistent 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor.  

Aromatics Spa is a decent neighbourhood spa offering all the usual treatments and some full packages at affordable prices. A particular favourite is The Journey which gives you a foot ritual, dry body brush, body scrub, body mask, pressure point massage, body soak and a lymphatic drainage massage for 18,000 Ksh. 

A neat sweet spa that offers nails, eyebrow/eyelash, waxing, massage, facials, sauna, wraps and meditation.
