In all locations in Nairobi there are amazing instructors, working individually or in small classes. Head over to my contact list – to see if there are any listed in your area. Or hit up Nairobi Expat Mums Facebook group where people will be able to point you in the right direction.
Don’t forget the great outdoors. You can choose to run or bike the long sinuous roads, forested paths or even the Ngong Hills.

Best Gym in Karen

The best gym in Nairobi is arguably The Dojo. Located next to The Talisman restaurant along the Ngong Road. The Dojo is proper fancy… they even have their own shamba growing organic produce for smoothies.
The Dojo gym is fully equipped. It has a parkour area and a vast range of killer classes, including aerial silk, HIIT, boxing, callisthenics, yoga, pilates and kickboxing. They do group classes and personal training. For parents, the best thing about this gym is the inclusion of kids’ classes. My kids go for Ninja Warrior Training and Parkour. They can also do boxing.
The club has a beautiful steam room and sauna area, onsite physiotherapists, masseurs and nutritionists. It’s a luxurious one-stop shop for all your wellness needs.

This Hardy gym is as far away from a Virgin Active as you can manage, and what a breath of fresh air. There are no airs and graces. You are there to get fit. I’ve not once been when I can walk properly the next day. It’s exquisite agony that delivers results.
Salim and his team run this hidden gem, a boxing gym tucked away in a small room in Hardy. This is hardcore work out. A full-speed mix of weight training, cardio, and endless squats interspersed with boxing.
Jungle Body is the most enjoyable way you can start your day. A session at Jungle Body is like hitting the clubs at 8 am with a gang of mates and bottles of water rather than vodka. The instructor, Skye, is an unbelievable ball of energy that guides you through high-intensity routines.
Jungle Body is held at the Hardy Dance Studio on the top floor of Hardy Dukas. The studio runs other adult classes, including yoga and pilates.
